No Think To Think

Projection work for Illuminate Adelaide 2023. Protected on “The Story Wall”, State Library of Adelaide.

No Time To Think was projection onto The Story wall of the State Library of Adelaide, the design and intention behind this work drew heavy inspiration from the book, "The World Without Us" by Alan Weisman, which delves into a hypothetical scenario in which humanity vanishes from the earth. In the absence of human intervention seeds which fall onto eroding architectural surfaces would begin to germinate rapidly and continually, eventually bringing down the building structures we’ve left behind.

I designed this piece in 3D geometry to merge this imagery I had of the decaying architecture overruled with thriving plants, and to also create depth and a forced perspective, making the piece a more engaging experience to be contemplative with.

The piece aimed to evoke reflection on humanity's impact on the environment, while highlighting nature's adaptability and beauty. Serving as a metaphor for the ongoing cycle of life, the projection prompted viewers to consider their role in preserving the delicate balance between human creations and the forces of nature, emphasizing the need for responsible coexistence.
